Record and Submit with a Phone
Step 1:
Record a video using your phone's camera app. It may be good to hold your phone horizontally to record.
Step 2:
Install and log into the Canvas app with your myBristol login.
Step 3:
In the Canvas app navigate to the assignment and click on its name.
Step 4:
Click "Submit Assignment".
Step 5:
You may see more than one way to submit. Choose an option and follow the submission steps listed below.
If you choose "Studio":
Step 1:
- Click the "Create" button.
- Click "Upload From Device."
Step 2:
Click one of the options to search your phone for the video recording. The most common option is "Photo Library" or it may say "Gallery."
Step 3:
Confirm what video you want to upload, and once done you will see it appear. Click on it.
Step 4:
Click the "Embed Media" button and this will submit the video to your instructor.
If you choose "Text Entry":
Step 1:
- Scroll to the right on the toolbar until you encounter the picture icon.
- Click the picture icon. You should now see your phone's video/photo gallery. Click and upload the video you want to submit.
- The video will appear as a dark grey rectangle video thumbnail.
- Click "Submit" when you are ready to submit it to your instructor.
If you choose "File Upload or Media Recording":
Step 1:
Click "Library." You should now see your phone's video/photo gallery. Click and upload the video you want to submit.
- Click the "Submit" button.
Done! You have successfully submitted a video to an assignment with a phone. ✔️
Record and Submit with a Computer
Step 1:
Click on the name of the assignment. You may see more than one way to submit. Choose an option and follow the submission steps listed below.
If you Choose "Canvas Studio"
- Click the "Canvas Studio" button.
- Click "+ Create" button.
- Click "Studio Capture".
If you Choose "Text" or "Text Entry"
Click the blue Canvas Studio button in the toolbar. If you do not see the option click the 3 dots in the toolbar first.
Step 2:
Canvas Studio is now open. Here you will see all the videos you have created/uploaded.
- To create/upload a new video, click the “Create” button.
- Click "Studio Capture" to record a new video or click "Add Media" if you already have a video saved on your computer or phone.
Step 3:
Your web browser may ask you for permission to use your microphone and camera. Allow access. For most web browsers you can check the access by clicking the icon that appears in front of the website url at the top.
Step 4:
- After clicking Studio Capture, make sure your webcam and microphone are the ones you want to use by clicking the camera or mic icon.
- Click Start "Recording" to start and click "Finish" when done. (You can also click the pause button if you need to temporarily stop the camera from recording.)
Step 5:
- Name your finished recording.
- Click the "Save Media" button.
Step 7:
Choose the finished recording, and click "Embed Media" to add it to your discussion post.
Step 8:
When you’re ready to submit, click "Submit Assignment".
Done! You have successfully submitted a video reply to a discussion. ✔️
