Ways to Lock Discussion
Teachers have two options for stopping discussion replies. Both still allow students to view and read the discussion.

Manually Close with "Closed for comments"
Step 1:
- Click "Discussions" in your Course Navigation.
- Click the 3 dots on the Discussion you would to close.
- Click "Close for comments" on the menu that appears.
✔️ Done! You have successfully prevented future replies to your discussion. Students can still view and read the discussion.
Set it to Auto-close with Until Dates:
Step 1:
- Find your Discussion by clicking "Modules" or "Discussions" in your Course Navigation.
- Click the 3 dots on the Discussion.
- Click "Assign To..." from the menu that appears.
Step 2:
- Under "Until", add the date you would like the Discussion to automatically prevent new replies. For example, this can be identical to your due date or a couple days after if you allow late submissions.
- Click "Save".
✔️ Done! You have successfully enabled a date where students can no longer reply but they can still view and read the discussion.
