How to record a Studio Video in Canvas
About Canvas Studio
Canvas Studio is a video recording tool that is very easy to use in Canvas! It allows you to record and post a video for others in a course to view. Depending on where you post it will determine who can view. For example, submitting a video in an announcement or discussion will be available to everyone, while submitting to an assignment will only be visible to a teacher.
Step 1:
Whenever you encounter a textbox with a tool bar (often called a richtext editor) you can record and add a Studio video! Click the blue Canvas Studio button in the toolbar.

Step 3:
This will open Canvas Studio. Here you will see all the videos you have created/uploaded.
- To create/upload a new video, click the “Create” button.
- Click "Studio Capture" to record a new video or click "Add Media" if you already have a video saved on your computer or phone.

Step 4:
- After clicking Studio Capture, make sure your webcam and microphone are enabled.
- Click Start "Recording" to start and click "Finish" when done. You can also pause the recording if needed.

Step 5:
- Name your finished recording.
- Click the "Save Media" button.
Step 6:
Choose the finished recording, and click "Embed Media" to add it to your discussion post.
Step 7:
The video will appear in the text box. Add anything else you would like to and then submit using the options on the page. This will vary depending on where you are submitting the video.
Done! You have successfully recorded a video using Canvas Studio. ✔️
