VLabs - Accessing VDI Systems Off Campus

1. Open an in-private or incognito session from your web browser. Please only use Chrome or Firefox

a. Chrome – Select the three dots in the upper right of your Chrome browser taskbar and select New Incognito Window

b. Firefox – Select the three lines in the upper right of the Firefox browser taskbar and select the New Private Window

2. Enter the following URL in the address bar of the new private session

a. https://vdi.bristolcc.edu/

You will see an error that the connection is not private and have the option to select Advance

3. Once Advanced is selected choose Proceed to vdi.bristolcc.edu (unsafe)

4. You will now be presented with the Horizon VDI website, choose the VMware Horizon HTML Access

5. On the login screen enter your myBristol username followed by @bristolcc.edu

Example: jsmith11@bristolcc.edu

*DO NOT USE YOUR CISWEB ACOUNT *

6. You will be sent to the myBristol login page, enter your credentials, and complete the MFA login you have set.

7. You will then be presented with the Horizon Login Screen – enter your Bristol credentials (same as myBristol do not include @bristolcc.edu)

8. The VDI Pools available to you will be presented, connect to the one that you need

- Student VDI Pool: Basic software best for most students, has the latest version of Office, Starry Night, and Mastercook

- CIS VDI Pool: for CIS students who need computer-related course software, putty, WINSCP

- Comp AD VDI Pool: for engineering students who need engineering software such as AutoCAD or Solidworks

9. You will be prompted to OK or Cancel in full-screen mode.

If you select OK the VDI will cover the entire screen – just press and hold the ESC key on your keyboard for a few seconds until it drops to window mode again.

Once signed in click on the Software folder on the desktop to access the needed software

*Remember to save all of your work to your OneDrive, once you sign out of these systems everything will be erased.
